My Approach to an Elevator Pitch is Not the Same as Yours

One of the interesting aspects of this whole tech industry is this concept of making an “elevator pitch” to get the attention of a venture capitalist. In other words, you are supposed to grovel and get a VC attention like him/her is someone you have to worship to curry their favor.

As a Black African-American man from the hood, heterosexual and give all praise to the most high for my accomplishments and progress, I don’t give a flying f*ck about a venture capitalist or their material money or whatever they supposed to mean to me.

The only thing I care about is my venture, my interest, my goal and my mission. And you better be the same way instead of some little snot in this game if you want to make it to the top on your terms and realize your true dreams.

Not Begging or Asking Anybody for Shit

This whole made-up venture capitalist stuff is an artificial construct positioned in the tech sector to put up an additional layer of gatekeeping who should be successful or not successful. A lot of them in that tech media sector as well colluding to pretend they have the pulse of who is who in the industry.

One thing we going to have to acknowledge is these venture capitalists were working to keep Black men like me out of the industry. These so-called tech bros ran a whole gambit of making sure only white faces are only seen. So you expect me to be concerned about any of them or care what they think?

I’m not asking/begging anybody for anything, if I was in an elevator with a venture capitalist and I want his money, I’ll just take his money. I’m not playing with any of those racist clowns in the tech industry and some of them like to play games thinking I’m going to play back with them.

I’m crew up, the savings blew up, and my Asian chick got me boo’d up, I don’t need anything from anybody but a prayer they don’t get in my way. They hate Black men like me and don’t want to see me make it, I hate them back and don’t want to see them make it either.

Keep Yours to Yourself

When you expanding the empire, keep in mind everybody is going to try the emperor. People come around smiling in your face, dangling money and sex escorts trying to probe your desire, and some of them will try to blackmail you or look for some kind of leverage over you.

You understand day one that no one  is here for you and just trying to extract something from you they can use for themselves. Your goal is to keep your goal intact, your interest intact, and make sure no one infiltrates your dream and vision and all the work you doing to get up to this point.

It’s a lot of weak cats running around trying to be liked and validated all the time. You see them bragging about how much the VCs gave them money or smiling that one of these tech magazines gave them a write-up. A lot of them have been compromised with sex scandals or messing with the business funds so outsiders can have leverage over them.

You keep all of them out of your business and you don’t need their money or anything from them. As a brotha, you don’t want any of those lame chicks the tech industry trying to bring your way to set you up – you as Black man got plenty of college sistas in her junior year who will ride for a brotha so none of us brothas should be chasing those lame chicks the tech industry trying to offer us.

Look Out For You and Yours Only

The only thing I’m in this game for is my personal ambition. Everything I’m going to do in the tech game going to be for my best interest. You do not have friends, you do not have business associates. The only thing that you got in the game is your dream and hustle.

You focus on your empire, you raise your own damn money, you hire your own people who are qualified, hungry and you share the winnings with them. You hire your own promo team and don’t worry about getting writeups in a biased tech mag that show only White faces.

Most important, you don’t side chain into goofy stuff like a Blavity AfroTech and those clowns who are sitting around clucking like chickens about what Black person is doing their damn thing in tech. I’m doing my damn thing in tech around this world and nothing none of those punk ass clowns at Blavity AfroTech can do anything about what I do and how I’m doing.

The way this game really works, is you set out to what you going to do and learn to separate the wheat from the chaff on your way up. You will see the real ones with real value show up and see the fake ones with no value trying to extract from you – know what cards to keep and what cards to remove from your hand.

Anything you want in this world, you got to make it or take it. Beggars don’t get to be choosy.
