Pastor Jamal Bryant Boycott Target DEI but Goofy About GCCs Devastating Impact on His Megachurch.
We have watched Pastor Jamal Bryant carry out an ineffectual boycott campaign against Target cancelling their “supplier diversity” DEI program where they gave space to Black-owned and people of color companies in their store. It was discussed in a previous article, this was a waste of time because corporate DEI is just fighting for cookie crumbs.
My favorite part is all these goofy Black folks that are out here running their mouths too much in comment sections talking about some chick who ran some lip gloss up in Detroit or whatever like she's special - anybody can order that stuff from Alibaba Express and compete with her.
That lip gloss sista was acting extra and special on TikTok with her goofy female followers and basically saying she doesn't need Target which validated my point - the DEI was being hijacked and exploited by Black folks who don’t need the DEI program. Kinda like rich Asians taking advantage of affirmative action for Harvard admissions.
Pastor Jamal Bryant was all on TV and boycotting Target for some uppity Black folks who don’t need the Target DEI program to run their empire, all hot about it. That’s the Boule stuff I was telling you about - some of you trying to get your business off the ground and needed that DEI but the Boule and uppity Blacks cut in line to use that channel to block you guys out and just use it as another channel to promote their brand. That’s the core problem with DEI and affirmative action.
Now we are facing a true existential crisis as Black Americans - Global Capability Centers or the GCC. Target is part of the problem as we will discuss in this article. But Pastor Jamal Bryant has nothing to say on this matter, even though it is way more serious and consequential than a few uppity Blacks losing their DEI spot at a Target store.
Preaching “Comfortable Christianity” to Black Congregations.
Black megachurchs and their pastors do not seriously address consequential and serious issues impacting the Black community like Martin Luther King. With Martin, he was addressing the macro-level of equality and social justice such as institutional racism and poverty and the underlying causes.
All the weak pastors we got like Rev Al Sharpton and Jamal Bryant focus on the low-hanging fruit like being emotionally outraged about something to whip up the flock or the weak-minded people following them. These are what is known as Comfortable Christanity and in a way, they mock the awesomeness and true power of God and through God, all things are possible.
It’s easy to fall into a comfort trap or put your followers in a comfort trap. This is what a lot of so-called Black leaders and influencers do and I watch it with frustration all the time. I realize these Black leaders are leading sheep-minded people because if you look at any docile animal, what they want is comfort and complacency - look at your fat, overweight cat you feed too much just plopped down on the floor or couch, not trying to catch a rat or chase a toy, just want to be comfortable.
We are raising the alarm about the rapid ramp up of GCCs and the incoming devastation to Black urban professionals and the cascading impact to Black communities. Moving jobs to places with billions of Indians or billions of Asians or all White in Europe or all Latino and Latin America.
Do you think Black Americans are going to get those GCC jobs or they are going to have a DEI program in India to hire Black Americans?
Target Moving Jobs Upper Class Blacks Used to Work
Look at the jobs that Target, the corporation Pastor Jamal Bryant was protesting for DEI are opening for their GCC in India. Look at them!
Art Director of Design, Project Management, HR of Business Process, Senior Tax Manager - these are jobs I knew working-class Black women bragging about making six figures in these career fields. Those sistas who acted better than her Black man saying she doesn't date down, her jobs are being advertised in India and guess who is going to gain a job and guess who is going to lose a job - it ain’t a hard guess.
Many of you think GCCs are IT jobs - no, it’s the entire backoffice and corporate jobs that Black folks would work after graduation and through their career that is leaving America altogether. And they are not coming back. Any job going to a market of one billion Indians - you are not getting that job back and it is not coming back to America.
At a 2011 White House dinner, President Barack Obama asked Apple CEO Steve Jobs what it would take to bring iPhone manufacturing back to the U.S. Jobs bluntly replied, "Those jobs aren't coming back"
You corporate working brothas and sistas will 100% lose your job. You will 100% be fired, laid off, or forced to leave through attrition. You pretending otherwise is comfort and complacency.
Black Megachurch Collections Plates Going to Hit Different
Black megachurches like New Birth Missionary and Pastor Jamal Bryant have more at stake with Target creating GCCs than the vanity project of the Target DEI boycott. If Black folks are 100% going to lose their jobs then there will be a cascading effect of losing high-earning Black worshippers at their churches to fund and sponsor church projects.
The Black church will be gravely harmed by mass marginalization of upper middle-class Blacks turning poor because those Blacks will start demanding something from the church for all the tithing and contributions they made after all those years as a member.
Does Pastor Jamal Bryant still want to play games at this juncture knowing the financial risk to his own church? Sounds like Pastor Bryant and other megachurch might need to get off their behind and address this matter now before it manifests into a point of no return.
Pastor Jamal Bryant and other megachurch communities can do something and they are a stakeholder in this serious situation. If the Black community loses economic power, the Black church loses spiritual power. Comfortable Christianity time has passed in the Black community - it is time to be voluntarily uncomfortable now to prevent being involuntarily uncomfortable in the future.
The way to stop it is to raise alarm and expose what corporations like Target are doing and hollowing out not only Black communities but the American economy as a whole. He can protest the CEO and the board of directors and raise awareness to the American people to say these people are trying to shift jobs out of America quietly and we are going to be loud about it.
This is the type of advocacy the church needs to fight because who else is going to do it? The GCCs will harm communities, small businesses, and people will be economically marginalized if this continues to terminal velocity. This advocacy and awareness has to happen now but let’s see if these preachers and the people are going to stay comfortable or decide to be uncomfortable.
